Christmas Charities Year Round

Christmas Charities Year Round was nominated by Sue Clark and selected by Torch Helps contributors to receive the quarterly grant for the Winter of 2008. They will use these funds to purchase a rag baler. They are currently throwing away about 700 pounds of soiled/damaged clothes each week. With the baler, they will be able to recycle these as rags by selling them to a company in Athens for $3000 a year or more. This will reduce waste, generate needed revenue, and allow CCYR to become more self sufficient.

$10,000 Quarterly Grants

The generosity of our contributors and the continued growth of the company have allowed us to increase the Quarterly Grant by 33% from $7500 to $10,000.

A special thanks to all our employees who continue to support the mission of Torch Helps through payroll deductions and those who have volunteered their time to make sure that we are good stewards of those donations. This increase is further evidence that:

Together Our Resources Can Help!

Rag Tag Recycling Day

Christmas Charities Year Round invited us to attend their annual Rag Tag Day this year to demonstrate their new baler and let us tour their facility on Jordan Lane. They started baling the rags about 2 months ago (March 2009) and they finished baling the 24th bale while we were there. The recycling plant will pay $2000 for 40 bales which they expect to deliver in the next few months.

CCYR also takes gently used clothing and all kinds of items for children including toys, games, and ever furniture. For more information about CCYR and their mission,  please visit their web site at http://www.christmascharitiesyearround.org

We also got a nice mention in an article on al.com regarding Rag Tag Recycling Day.
